Many inns, taverns, and merchants, will sell Food, but basic edible ingredients can occasionally be found in containers or on enemies. If you like games like the Baldur's Gate series, then this won't disappoint you.Food is required to rest in most wilderness and dungeon areas. You can play turn-based or real time with pause modes and there is an appropriate difficulty setting for everyone from beginners to pros. The sea battles are a bit lacking unless you just board your enemy every time triggering a battle which is what I do. There is an insane amount of character customization which makes playing multiple times feel fresh. I love this game and I have over 200 hours in it across 3 playthroughs. Once you rest, the injuries are gone so you almost have to try and kill a character permanently for it to happen. You can hit F5 at any time during the game to quicksave as long as you're not in combat and you can rest pretty much anywhere except in cities (which have inns that allow resting).

They have to get knocked out 3 times (which will give them 3 injuries) first without you resting and then get knocked out a 4th time. So there is permadeath, but it's actually very difficult to have one of your characters die permanently.
